Welcome
This teaching and learning framework has been written as an evidence-informed guide to support incremental improvements to teaching and learning within a classroom or school.
Initially inspired by the work of teaching-and-learning expert Chris Moyse, the framework is based upon the gradual release of responsibility (I do; we do; you do) and is specifically designed to support novice learners.
Novices and experts learn and think in different ways. For novice learners, a teacher-led blend of direct interactive instruction and formative assessment is almost always more successful than student-led approaches (Robertson, B 2023 Power up Your Pedagogy).
If you’re looking for a way to support all pupils – especially those unfortunately branded as the ‘bottom 20%’ – look no further.
What teachers think…

“Clear framework.”
I will use it with my staff as part of my weekly coaching programme.
Michael, Headteacher

“Quality”
This is an absolutely quality piece of work. All bases covered for me. Great stuff.

“This is brilliant”
So clear and concise. Well done and thanks for sharing.
